SEC Country pre-Media Day poll: Projecting SEC divisions, champion, player and coach of year

It’s less than two months until the 2017 college football season kicks off, and the SEC is about to take center stage with its four-day media event (seriously, what other league could get away with four days?) from July 10-13 in Hoover, Ala.

SEC Country has you covered from every angle. But before we land in Hoover, we polled the 20 SEC Country team members who will be there on several categories before the hundreds — thousands? — of media members share their two cents for the official preseason SEC poll.

Player of the Year

Alabama sophomore QB Jalen Hurts was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2016 as well as Freshman of the Year. He threw for 185.3 yards per game and ran for another 63.6 yards while accounting for 36 touchdowns.

Is it right for Nick Saban to be punished in the Coach of the Year voting because his team is expected to win every year? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, he is SEC Country’s top vote-getter.
