Colorado State players to watch
Michael Gallup | WR
Gallup earned first-team All-Mountain West Conference honors after recording 76 catches for 1,272 yards and 14 touchdowns last season. His touchdown total ranked eighth in the NCAA and second in a single season in Colorado State history. Gallup’s receiving yardage total was 14th in the nation and tied for the league lead.
Nick Stevens | QB
Stevens appeared in 10 games last season, making seven starts. Stevens was one of the best passers in the nation in the latter half of the campaign. From Week 7 through the end of the regular season, Stevens completed 98 of 137 attempts (71.5 percent) for 1,414 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also adding a pair of rushing touchdowns.
He only threw 1 interception during that span, leading the Rams to a 4-2 record over their final six games and a fourth consecutive postseason berth. His 171.3 passer efficiency rating ranked fifth in the NCAA and first in the MWC last year.
Similar to Fresno State in Week 2, Alabama hosting Colorado State in Week 3 will likely be a snooze fest. No disrespect to the Rams, but they aren’t in the same class as Alabama football.
This will be Alabama’s final tune-up prior to SEC play, so it’ll be another time for young players to get some action.
