Skai Moore is ready for more
South Carolina linebacker Skai Moore has not lost a step after redshirting last season.
“There’s been no falloff,” Moore said on Thursday. “I’m the same player — if not better — than the last time I stepped on the field, for sure, so just to prove there’s no falloff for me.”
Moore has led South Carolina in tackles every season he’s played.
The redshirt senior linebacker currently sits just outside the school’s all-time top 10 for tackles and is just 3 shy of tying the school-record of 14 interceptions.
Honor for Gamecocks staff
Two members of the South Carolina athletics staff were named to 247Sports‘ 30 Under 30 list on Thursday: Matt Lindsey and Justin King.
Lindsey joined the South Carolina football staff as director of player personnel in February 2017. The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native oversees all recruiting services, including identifying prospects for the coaching staff. Prior to coming to Columbia, Lindsey worked in the pro and college scouting departments for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2013-17.
King was named associate athletics director for new and creative media in February 2017. The 2010 South Carolina grad is beloved among Gamecocks fans for the highlight videos he independently produced prior to joining the athletic department last year.
In his official role with the Gamecocks, King oversees all graphic/video content for athletics recruiting and messaging strategy for all sports.

The Gamecocks were the first to offer the Class of 2019 prospect. The Lakeland (Fla.) High School standout also has an offer from Syracuse and has garnered interest from Florida, Miami and Penn State as well.
BJ McKie gets new gig
Former South Carolina basketball star BJ McKie is leaving his associate head coach position at Charleston Southern to take an assistant coach role at East Tennessee State, according to Scott Eisberg of WCIV in Charleston.
McKie is the Gamecocks’ all-time leading scorer with 2,119 total points from 1995-99. The Norfolk, Va., native was elected to the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.
McKie’s son, Justin, was a senior guard on the Gamecocks’ Final Four team last season.
Allisha Gray in the running for WNBA ROY
Former South Carolina women’s basketball star and current Dallas Wings G Allisha Gray is one of the leading candidates for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award, according to Michelle Smith of WNBA.com.
Gray was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft. She is averaging 13.1 points and 27.8 minutes per game for the Wings. Smith calls the Wings guard’s award prospects “very good.”
Gray arrived at South Carolina as a transfer from North Carolina in 2015. After sitting out the 2015-16 season, she averaged 13 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in helping lead the Lady Gamecocks to a national championship.
