What to make of Alabama’s future matchup with Utah State

Alabama football-Nick Saban-Utah State-Crimson Tide-football-future schedules

A-Day and spring practice are behind us, but there are still plenty of questions to answer about Alabama football. The players are away from the team to focus on finishing classes, recovering and personal development before summer workouts begin. Here we’ll take a look at a question each day. Check out our archives here.

What do you make of the future matchup with Utah State for Alabama football?

In case you missed it, Alabama football is set to host Utah State during the 2022 season. The Crimson Tide are scheduled to pay Utah State $ 1.91 million (!!) to make the trip, according to Brett McMurphy.

That’s currently the third-highest payday for one of these types of games.

All this says is the cupcakes are here to stay for at least the immediate future. It’s worth noting that Alabama appears to be trying. Reports have Alabama talking with Notre Dame and Texas about scheduling games. That’s a good sign.

Still, if you’re a fan, there’s no way you’re happy when a game against Utah State gets added as one of your home game options.

I’m not sure what the solution is here, but these types of games aren’t really good for anyone, outside of the team getting a payday. Beyond that, it’s bad football and it’s not good for the sport from a fan perspective.

Hopefully the people running this sport put a stop to this over the next five to 10 years.

For more answers to prior Questions of the Day, we have you covered.
